Sales and Project Management (solar industry)

Terrafix Groundworks Canada Inc.

January 2012 – February 2013 (1 year 2 months), Brantford, Ontario, Canada

My responsibilities were:
– building up market in Canada (sales and marketing)
– establishing local manufacturing in Ontario
– project management of construction sites

Terrafix is a worldwide solutions provider for innovative foundations and structures for ground-mount solar farms (PV, fixed and single axis trackers).

Terrafix designs, manufacturers, sells and installs ground screws (also called earth anchors) and solar structures for the photovoltaic industry. Overall Terrafix has installed components for over 600MW worldwide (status: Dec 2012) with a production capacity of 1TW a year. Other products include: car ports with integrated PV, towers for wind turbines and dual axis trackers, concrete-less foundations for many other applications.

Before I joined Terrafix, the company had successfully provided and installed foundation solutions for two solar farms in Ontario (total 20MW) from its manufacturing facilities in Mexico with the help of business administrations from its New York and California based operations.

I was able to find competitive manufacturing for our products, that would meet all local content regulations and our strict quality control standards.

Building on the success of the solar farms built in 2011, I was able to find new leads and develop customer relationships which lead to the sale of three more 10MW solar farms in 2102 (total value approx. $4.5MM), and ultimately the sale of 14 more solar farms to be built in 2013, totaling an overall DC output of around 150MW (total value approx. $40MM).

Further more, I was part of the project management team during the building process of the solar farms, and was intricately involved in:
– contract negotiations with the unions (establishing collective agreements)
– planning and executing logistics of the construction projects
