Picture of MeI’m Hans-Jörn Eich, just call me “Hans”.

First and foremost I’m a husband and father. I was born and raised in Germany, and currently reside in the Greater Toronto Area in Canada.

I am a professional audio engineer for concert sound. I’m proud to be freelancing mainly for one of the biggest production companies in North America (Toronto branch of Clair Global). I also get to work with great artists, which I’ve traveled with in the past. Since I married I’ve been less busy on the road, since I felt the need to spend more quality time with my family. Making the choice to stay away from the nice shows on the road, can be pretty tough, but it is a sacrifice I am willing to make.

In 2007 I started a little toy company, called “Ukoonto” (offline in July 2011), which I had to shut down at the end of 2010, when I noticed that I was not able to make it work. I’ve tasted what it is like to start a business and work your butt off to put a company together. This will inevitably lead to more.

The experience of starting my own company showed me that I’m passionate about a few things:
- innovation, it doesn’t necessarily have to be high tech. You have to know an industry very well, to understand that you can be innovative by doing things your way in order to make it work.
- work process’ and the material flow in these process’ from the “harvest” all the way to the dump and beyond.
- providing meaningful work in Canada, and not just letting the head hang low and giving up against foreign manufacturing.

I hope this website/blog provides you with meaningful information and gives you food for thought.
